I’ve chosen 10 places that you can easily reach in your car or, preferably, on your bike. No need for hiking boots to get to any of these spots, each of which is wonderfully representative of Mayo!

Apr 4th, 2011 | By Barry Murphy The days are longer, friends, so we can get outside ever more. Here are my events for this lovely spring month.
Sat April 9 – The Bangor Trail is a great, entirely off-road, centuries old animal moving trail that meanders through the Nephin Beg mountains, from Bangor in north Mayo down to the seaside town of Newport. We will walk part of it, in a loop that will take us maybe 4 hours. Come along if you like the wild outdoors. See here.

The value of anything a Green Party representative says in the current circumstances, where the party faces wipe-out in the upcoming election, has to be questioned. Nevertheless, it is nice to see them talk up Mayo’s wonderful rural tourism product offer.
